Commercial Fuels & Equipment

Gas Oil (Red Diesel)

Since April 2022, government legislation has restricted the use of rebated diesel (red diesel) and rebated biofuels for many commercial sectors.

  • Construction machinery can no longer legally use red diesel.

  • Agricultural use is still permitted, but farmers who take on construction work will need to switch to alternatives.

  • Most affected businesses must now use white diesel (road fuel) for their machinery.

These changes are part of the UK’s wider plan to reach net zero emissions by 2050. While this supports the transition to cleaner, sustainable fuels, it also brings challenges for businesses that previously relied on red diesel.

Derv (Road diesel, Red diesel, ULSD)

Standard road diesel is used in cars, buses and trucks in fleets of all sizes. We are able to deliver in bulk to your premises to a suitable tank storage facility. We have additive treatments to enhance refinery sourced fuel to improve mpg performance, emission control and overall service intervals; helping to keep engines clean and give you optimum year round performance.

Fuel Additives for Commercial Use

Fuel quality and performance can be affected by water contamination, sludge, or loss of lubricity. We supply the FAST Exocet range of additives, with solutions for issues such as:

  • Blackened or blocked filters

  • Sludge build-up in tanks

  • Loss of lubricity in kerosene boilers

  • Water-related problems in fuel systems

Andrea and the team have over 10 years’ experience with Exocet products and can recommend the right solution for every fuel-related issue.

Heating Oil (Kerosene – Standard & Premium Grades)

We offer the standard kerosene heating oil but highly recommend the premium grades for those customers wishing to purchase a product which offers a cleaner burn for their systems. Whether it’s a regular pressure jet boiler or a range style cooker using a vaporising burner in an AGA, Rayburn or Esse type cooker, we offer an alternative which ensures your systems do not build up with sooty deposits and breaks down sludge formation found in storage tanks over time which will naturally develop from condensation build up.

We aim to protect your domestic heating system with these additives and increase the shelf life of the fuel, reducing service problems and minimising the potential for fuel tank and oil pipeline corrosion. Our range is there to assist boiler engineers and we would always advise you to ensure your system is serviced in line with the manufacturers recommendations.

FAQ’s

Why should I consider fuel additives for my fleet or equipment?

  • Improve fuel efficiency (better MPG)

  • Reduce harmful emissions

  • Prevent sludge build-up in storage tanks

  • Protect against blocked filters and water contamination

  • Extend service intervals and improve long-term engine health.

Do you supply lubricants for commercial machinery?

Yes. As distributors for Morris Lubricants, we stock a full range of oils, greases, and fluids for engines, transmissions, hydraulics, cutting tools, and industrial equipment — available in small packs and bulk.

How do I know which tank I need for my business?

We supply tanks in various shapes and sizes for commercial, farm, or domestic use. All bunded tanks come with a manufacturer’s warranty and meet oil storage regulations. Our team can advise on the most suitable option for your needs.

Do you supply commercial heating oil?

Yes. We supply both standard kerosene and premium heating oils for commercial boilers and heating systems. Premium oils reduce sludge and soot build-up, extending the life of heating equipment and lowering maintenance costs.

What does switching from red diesel to white diesel mean for my business?

The biggest change is cost, as white diesel is subject to full fuel duty. However, we can help reduce the impact by supplying bulk deliveries, offering competitive pricing, and recommending additives to improve efficiency and extend service intervals.

Description
Back in April 2022, rebated diesel (known as red diesel) and rebated biofuels are no longer allowed to be used as they were. Commercial sectors who used red diesel are having to switch to alternative fuels, such as white diesel. In an effort to reach the UK’s 2050 net-zero emissions target, the laws are changing. While the changes will encourage the development and use of cleaner, more sustainable fuels, they will also present a challenge for a wide range of sectors and businesses. The main change is that red diesel is no longer legal in construction machinery. Farmers may be affected. Though agricultural work will remain a key permitted use for red diesel, anyone in the industry wishing to supplement their income with construction work will have to switch. For the commercial businesses which are affected by the changes, it will mean switching to regular white diesel.
